Steven Y. Kim, M.D., F.A.C.S. | Board Certified General Surgeon

 

 

Dr. Kim is a board-certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After completing his training in general surgery in 2001, Dr. Kim served four years of active duty in the United States Air Force as a general surgeon. He spent one year at Osan Air Force Base, Korea and the remaining three years at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

 

Dr. Kim has been in private practice since July 2005 and has been the Director of Trauma Services at Littleton Hospital since January 2006. He was accepted as a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery in 2003 and was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2004. He has a broad range of surgical interests and expertise including trauma and critical care to minimally invasive, laparoscopic procedures. 

 

Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with his three beautiful daughters Ashley, Lauren, and Elisabeth and their family dog, Leo.

Crea L. Fusco, M.D. Board Certified General Surgeon

Dr. Crea Fusco grew up in Freeport, Illinois, and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1999 with a degree in Sociology and a focus in Biology. She then used her degree and passion in helping others to travel to rural Kenya and teach HIV education. Following her return, she attended Rush University Medical School in Chicago where she was very active in community outreach programs. She graduated medical school in 2004 and completed her General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care fellowship in 2010 at Rush University and Cook County Hospitals in Chicago. 

 

Dr. Fusco joined Dr. Steven Kim at Premier Surgery in 2010. She cares for patients at both Porter and Littleton hospitals and is active in both Trauma and General surgery. She serves as the Chair of Surgical Services at Littleton Hospital since January 2014 and the Director of Trauma Services at Porter Hospital since August 2014.


Dr. Fusco truly loves being a surgeon, connecting with her patients and caring for them both in and outside the hospital setting. She has a variety of interests within the surgical field, including inguinal and complex hernia repairs, stomach, small bowel and colon surgery, along with gallbladder and various lumps and bumps. She believes in taking the time to listen and get to know her patients and working with them to find the best solution for their surgical issues.

 

In her spare time, she loves to enjoy the Colorado sunshine, whether by biking, skiing, hiking or gourmet picnicking at one of our beautiful parks. She loves going to the opera, the symphony, and dining at great restaurants in the city with her family. She is married, has twin boys, and a very large Great Dane.

Peter H. Phan, M.D., F.A.C.S. Board Certified General Surgeon

 

 

Dr. Phan is a board-certified general surgeon originally from Washington State.  He completed surgical residency training in 2010 and went on to serve as a general surgeon for four years in the United States Air Force.  He deployed three times to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, providing surgical care to American and Coalition service members.  During this time, Dr. Phan also served at St. Louis University (SLU) Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  He honed is trauma and surgical skills by caring for a wide range of patients from active-duty military members to inner city trauma victims. As an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at SLU, he had the privilege of training residents, fellows and medical students.

 

Joining Drs. Kim and Fusco at Premier Surgery in 2015, Dr. Phan is excited to serve the patients of the South Denver area.  He enjoys putting patients at ease by carefully explaining their treatment options in a gentle and easy-to-understand manner.  His clinical experience and interests range from hernia repairs to gastrointestinal, colon, and gallbladder disorders.

 

Dr. Phan and his wife love raising their four children here in Colorado.  Together, they enjoy cooking, hiking, reading, or just sitting on their front porch sipping coffee in the morning sunshine.
